Questions regarding Trion PS300 blade position in guides

Just received a Trion from the recon sale, and am trying to figure out whether there is an issue with the way the Fastfix is holding the blades, or if there is a problem with the carbide glides (or if it's user error...).  I saw the video by Brian Sedgely regarding how to adjust the guides, and the problem is that I cannot get the saw blade to go between the rear/parallel section of the guides.  Therefore I am unable to tighten the guides enough to hold the blade (which I know then must be backed off for the proper spacing).  The blade will only go as far as the "V" shaped entrance, which of course cannot be tightened enough to hold the blade.  I made sure to pull the blade to its furthest position downward and have tried all orbit positions.

I also wonder if another warning sign is that regardless of the position of the orbital switch, the rear thrust bearing never reaches the rear of the blade...there is always a gap.  Shouldn't it be able to touch the blade?

Here is a picture of the carbide guides and how the blade is sitting in the "V" section.

So in general, it seems as though the blade is too far forward.  Wondering if this is normal or if it is an easy fix (I've tried loosening the guide's torx screw and carefully centering the guides) or whether Service should be called.  I also think the blade is off-center with respect to the base opening, but I thought maybe that is the way it is designed so that the pointer on the splintergard lines up with the edge of the blade and not the center of the blade.  Is this correct or should the blade be centered?

Thanks,
Brian

The carbide blade guides in the image above are too tight. Try loosening them until the blade pops back in between the parallel portions of the guides and you will have it just right.

Hi Tom,

I agree the photo above shows them as too tight (that was more for illustration of the blade position, I'll take a couple more pictures)...but even when I had them all the way open, the blade itself was not able to be pulled back into the parallel slot.  Thanks for confirming that the blade does indeed belong in that parallel section and not in the front "V" section of the guides.

It's possible somethings bent or out of alignment. I had a customer come over the other day who's Trion was giving him fits.

After a bit of readjustment, it works fine now.

Just checked out a Trion at my local Woodcraft, and there is definitely a problem with mine.  The blade holder/shaft is supposed to move back and forth and mine is stuck in the front position.  Plus it looks to be off center from side-to-side.  Will contact Service.

Thanks!

Just a follow up...sent the Trion back this past Friday, and was shocked to receive it back today (Wednesday).  Good as new, everything seems to be perfect now.

Great service!

One question for Trion owners: Is there a way to fit the Guide Stop in the systainer?  (With the tool of course.  [wink])  Seems all of my other Festools can house the accessories within the tool's systainer but it doesn't appear to be the case with the Trion.

Glad you got this sorted out.

It is a tight fit in the Systainer  -- Ihave managed to get the parallel fence in the Systainer and some blades, but that is about it.  I am going to house the stop and some accessories in a Sortainer.
