Quick OF1400 Question

Hey guys,

After much debating, I've decided to buy the OF1400, mainly justified for a commision to make a built in wardrobe with sliding doors.

My question is; when using the guide rail and adapter, on the videos I have seen, there is a depth gauge on the opposite side of the router to stop it from tilting. Is this included in the standard OF1400 systainer or the additional guide rail adapter, OR is it ANOTHER item I need to buy to be able to use the guide rail..

Many thanks,

~WW

It is some time since I bought mine but from memory it is included with the guide rail adaptor, at least in the UK

No further purchase required, it's included.

I would buy the guide stop though 492601.

Have they stopped including the guide rail adaptor then? Rhetorical question, you've bought yours more recently than mine, you probably know better Ed.

I bought mine it wasn't included, I was also a bit miffed that they've stopped including the 8mm Collet, it costs £35  [eek]

The support foot is included in the Festool Guide rail adapter FS-OF 1400 (P/N 492601) but you do have to use the guide rods that are shipped with the router.

Will the 8mm collet from the 1010 fit? Didn't realise it's not in the systainer, just about to use it with Leigh jig with their 8mm bits. Already bought extra guide bush adapter plate... More money to shell out if not!

I don't think it does fit mate. Pretty shoddy that they decided that the 8mm collet wasn't worth including in the UK.

I balked at the £35 for the 8mm collet, I bought a 1/2" to 8mm reducer for the odd time I want to use an 8mm shank bit in the OF1400, what makes it laughable is they include it in the US box and they have very few 8mm shank bits. I am fortunate though that I have 2 other routers that are set up to use with my Leigh Jig and they both have 8mm collets.

Perhaps there's a deal to be done there with one of our US friends? As you note, not a lot of people seem to use the 8mm in the US.  [wink]
