It's not the greatest for high pressure, but the Senco PC1010 is quieter than all other general compressors out there including the Rolair. It's also half the weight too. I use the Senco in an apartment where noise is a critical concern.
However, as someone already mentioned, dentist drills are even quieter, but I'm not sure how much pressure they generally produce and they are certainly expensive.

Hmm, I'm wondering if the difference is where you're operating them? I tried both the JC 10 and the PC 1010 in my apartment and the Rolair was noticeably louder ~ at least to my ears anyway.
