This came across the transom overnight and I thought I would share.  It's very interesting.  To quote the first paragraph:

A radio for Festool users
The goal of this project was to understand the influence brands have on the user-centered design process. Students were assigned random brands to design a specific object for. In my case, I was assigned to design a radio for Festool, a powertool brand. In the beginning, it was hard to picture how this challenge could be relevant, but the end result made a lot of sense, since construction workers have very specific requirements and demands when it comes to consuming audio and entertainment

Intresting concept and if you could remote control it through your smartphone like a Sonos, have good beefy sound, multichannel radio (DAB, XM, FM, AM), autonomous 4G networking for streaming and Syslite like drop protection case it would be a winner. not sure about the walkie-talkie functionality.

Ha!  I like it. well done that man.

I agree it would need a syslite level of ruggedness before I bought it.  And the ability to use our cordless festool batteries would be awesome too.

I like it too! Great design. Not sure about the turning/sliding knob though - that would get broken off in no time on site!

Good catch JRB - I would assume the slot would get full of dust and grit in no-time flat and any other twisting/moving parts not under dust covers would suffer the same in a little bit more. And I like the C/T style battery option.

Very cool to see the design process for this person at work though.  [thumbs up]
