[font=arial]For a contest of [b]Tooltechnics nv/Festool Belgium[/b] I wanted to show how accurate Festool machines are.
The ultimate challenge for this was to use these tools to make a copy of itself.
As the TS55 is the tool most used I decided to make myself an extra one...in plywood.

pay extra attention to the soundtrack as it's made from only sounds produced by my Festool machines.

enjoy the movie!

Thanx Scot for waiting, it took me much longer to finish the movie as to build the replica itself  [big grin]

If it plunged then I'd be impressed  [tongue]

and where's the 1080HD?!  [poke]

j/k, very nice production all around

Hi  Pieter,

Welcome to the FOG !  [smile]

That is pretty cool  [cool]

Can we expect more neat videos?

Also how about filling us in on the light hook up in the OF1400 dust hood?

I will make a new topic later on with details about the LED dust hood

LED's in all the dust collectors.... sounds great! Lets hope the mounting system for them improves also, I've had the locking nozzle on my 1400 unchuck and hit the arbor/ bit a few times. One needs to be quite cautious the DC hose doesn't snag, even slightly.

How many hours went into the TS55 saw (including templates and tooling)?
Keep the videos coming!

That is Amazing. You should paint it to  [eek]

definetly paint it. put a dc port and plugit on it.
maybe a small motor to turn the blade (slowly for decorative effect) would be cool.

you could sure have some fun with that at the festool show. sneek in when the reps not lokking and swap out theirs then after a while ask to see it . the look on their face would be amazing

I'm figuring he disassembled his real TS55 so he could measure the real parts to make the wooden ones. Does this cancel his TS55 warranty?  [scratch chin]

I didn't dissamble it, although I always try to dissamble stuff.  Festool is to precious to take apart  [wink]
I also couldn't find drawings with meassurements on the festool site so I just did it old school with an vernier caliper.

I won't paint it as I find the lines of the plywood very nice.  what I will do is only paint the typical Festool green parts and the FESTOOL on the side of the motorcompartment.

The LED wiring on the hood doesn't make it easier to mount it but it's worth the effort.  I'll try to improve it even more and mount a battery compartment and switch to it.  More details and a DIY manual later on this forum.

The working hours?
Well...I have 14h of film, including setup for templates and tools and meassuring it will be around 17h I think... in a fact I worked 7 nights on it, only after work and after I put the kids to bed  [blink]

It was the idea to make it plunge...... but what you can do with metal is not always possible in wood, so it was impossible to make an axe strong enough to make it plunge.
and about the 1080 HD  [embarassed]  [embarassed]  I filmed everything in 1080HD but.....the software couldn't render it, so it took us an extra week to convert everything to a smaller resolution.  real shame.

thx for your support
