Registering tools in Aust

When I first started buying Festools early last year I registered them online on the Australian site and got an email back confirming the registration.

With the last couple of tools from about Nov last year the online form seems to have changed and I no longer receive a confirmation email.

Is there any way that I can confirm which tools are actually registered?  ???

I would suggest that you send them an email or call them directly and make the inquiry.  Perhaps the lack of a confirmation was nothing more than a coding change and they might not even be aware of the issue.  Unexpected stuff happens on the Internet.

I've contacted my colleague in Australia who is responsible for administering their website. I'll let you know what I find out.

Intersesting, As I have had tools registered for me here in Aus, directly by the dealer who sold them to me. I have also registered tools ive bought direct from Festool online. I have never received an email confirming registration for any of my tools, so I will be interested to see what they have to say.

I bought some gear in November through an  Australian store, who  apparently did the registration for me also. I called them a couple of weeks later since I hadn't heard anything, and they claimed it is a four month process which involves the emails being printed out, sent to Germany etc.  This sounded very much like a cock-and-bull story, but what can you do? I guess I'll wait another month or two, and contact Festool directly if nothing's happened.

I would have thought that online registration should be instantaneous these days..

So, I received a response from my colleague at Festool Australia. He said that the registration system on their website should create an automated email confirmation instantaneously. He suggested checking your junk/spam folder for the email. If you do not see it, then please contact Festool AU directly for assistance. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Hi Shane,
Is there anyone available in Aus who can represent Festool on the FOG like yourself and Phil do for US and UK. There  seems to be quite a few Aus members on here and our scope of delivery amougst other things is quite often different to US and UK. A local voice on here would be very handy

Thanks
Mark.

Mark, I'll check and see if they have someone who could be a representative on the FOG.

As was discussed in a recent thread, I agree that contacting your local Festool offices are the best method of resolving an issue or getting an answer to a question.

With all the tools I have ever registered all but one have been submitted by the dealer.  I usually receive a formal mailed document with in 3 weeks usually less and up until recently (last 2 purchases) an e-mailed version as well.

Same for me - registered on site, email confirmation, followed by mailed document, all through last year's purchases.

Update, I contacted Festool Aus today as i had not received any notifacation for the registration of my tools. I asked them if they had received any record of my tool purchases since November on their system. Three of my purchases were carried out by my dealer and one by myself online. They checked the S-NR numbers and couldn't find any record of them on their system, so that would probably explaine why I had not received any notification back from them.
I emailed them all the S-NR numbers and purchase dates, so they could check on another system. They then emailed me back later to say that they were all registered now for the three year warranty.
So that's peace of mind but this doesn't explaine if I hadn't of contacted them whether I would have been registered for the 3 year warranty or not as I had no confirmation prior to my email to them.

I just saw the extra posts in this thread - thanks for the info, gents. Looks like I'd better contact Festool.

On 31/1 I first contacted Festool Aust querying my registration details.

On 13/1 they wanted to know the TNR and SNR numbers to help them investigate.

On 15/1 they said that they have contacted Germany and would get back to me.

On 4/2 I queried the silence. They responded that they were waiting for Germany to get back to them.

On 13/2 they replied

"We have received a response from Germany stating that they have stopped
sending warranty confirmation emails at the moment for internal reasons and
they are working on a solution to resolve this problem.

In the meantime, my colleague Claudia will verify if your tool has been successfully
registered and get back to you.
"

26/2 So two months later I am still waiting to find out if any of my tools are registered. It appears that Festool Aust have no idea what is actually registered and I am left with the impression that registration via the web may be a lottery.  [scared]

You are not alone there. And the sad thing is that some people will only find out that they are not covered when they go to make a claim, could be you, could be me and this will be through no fault of their own but the fault of Festool Australia as it seem they have to run the extended warranty through the German system and then tie it back into the Australian database and there lies the fault.

When I complete the warranty on line I print out the last page of the on line warranty process this does not say that I am now covered for three years but is the only proof that I have tried to complete the warranty.

When I last spoke with Festool Australia they said that none of the tools that had been registered by my dealer or that I registered online were on the German system. So I Asked them to confirm by email that I was covered. I will have to do this again to check on the latest purchases.
We shouldn't have to do this. And this level of service, certainly wouldn't be acceptable from the American folk. so why do we in Australia have to live with this Lottery
Shane I asked before if there was any chance of an Australian Festool employee willing to join the Fog to answer our concerns, you were going to look into this. Did you get a response from them....Maybe they have to check this with the German system as well, to see if their allowed.

Mark.
