Replacing CT power cord

Both my CT Midi and CT 26 have lost the ground prong from the power cord. Is replacement by user possible/easy enough?

I find it easy. You need to know how a screwdriver works. You need to open the shell of the vac. The cord goes in on the backside of the vac and then led to the front where it connects to the circuit board.

Start with the Mini, that one's easiest because it is the smaller of the two. You only need to unscrew 4 screws to take the top apart.

I had the same problem with my CT26.  It's not very hard to replace, the cord gets routed from the back to the front and there is plastic a piece on the side that clamps it in place.

I would just replace the plug itself because it’s just going to happen again. I hadn’t used my CT for all that long and I never pulled on the cord before the ground prong came out. I bought a heavy duty one from Lowe’s.

I have found that these Plugs by LeGrand - Pass and Seymour are very nice on heavier gauge power cords. Wire up easily, pretty robust, nice grip. I have seen them in orange, black, yellow and gray. I have used about ten of them over the years with good results.

I'd also just replace the connector on the end of the cord. Stick with an industrial rated connector such as Pass & Seymour, Hubbell or Leviton. They aren't as pretty as the standard Festool over-molded version but they are a lot more durable because they're manufactured from nylon, that's what gives them their strength. Over-molded is pretty, it's just not as durable.

Just replace the connector. Easy to do. The single thing that requires extra care when re-terminating a cord like that is when cutting off the cord jacket to not nick the insulation on the individual conductors inside.
