Uh I don't ever do videos for the pure reason that I'm bad at it. However I am willing to try when it comes to Festool.
Review of Festool Angular unit (EU491588).MPG

My first ever video. I wasn't sure if I posted it in the right place as I don't use Youtube all that much. Oh and I lied on the video, I didn't use a orbital sander I used a stationary belt sander  [embarassed] sorry. It makes a huge difference.

The problem with the Angle Unit slipping is not that the surface of the washer needs scuffing up, but rather that the spring has lost its tension.  Unfortunately, Festool ships these Angle Units with the knob tightened down all the way, and that causes the spring to lose enough of its original tension to no longer work in this application.  Tinker discovered that the only thing required to fix the Angle Unit was to add two washers.  Before he posted his findings, I tried an earlier fix that involved adhering sand paper to the washer which did not work for my Angle Unit.  But Tinker's FS-KS Fix using the two washers worked fine.  See a longer discussion about this at Does this Festool Accessory Work?

i think i need to buy this angle bevel for a job next week!

thanks again to everyone for the great advice.

You see I've never had that problem. :/ Once I scuffed up the washer it really was a tight hold. Maybe I was lucky.

Great first video job, Chris. [big grin]

I got one in the guide rail accessories kit I got with my TS55, last November. Never had a problem with it, and I use it quite a lot. [big grin] Maybe Festool has changed something on them.
I made one mod to it as I needed to be able to lock it onto the rail, which I posted here. http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/small-mod-to-fs-ks/

Rob.

I love the rail accessory kit. It's where I got that unit from as well. That kit is one of the more used ones in my shop.

You are probably correct.  With all of the complaints they had in years past, they may have addressed the issue.  Sorry if the information was too old...

mine is perfect, too. but still, it IS moveable. its not as stable as a carpenters square, of course, but its a variable angle unit to transcribe an angle to a board via guide rail...so dont expect it to be rock solid and adjustable at the same time. when u keep that in mind, the spring lock solution is quite impressive, i think.

I found that having a few scrap reference angle boards that I made on the miter saw at commonly used angles  (22.5, 45, etc) to be quite useful when you want to dial this device in repeatedly, accurately and fast.  Nice job on addressing the scuffing issue.  Thank you
