Festool have recently released four new bit sets, specifically designed for use with the attic style systainer lids -
769093 - 6x brad point drill bits:

769094 - 24x driver bits:

769095 - 6x long driver bits:

769096 - 6x masonry bits:

I decided I wanted 3 of these, to fill the attic compartment of my drill box. I discounted the set of 6 long bits, as I never have a use for these. I also discounted the masonry bit set, for the reason that I generally use red or brown wall plugs, which take a 6 or 7mm hole respectively. Whilst the masonry bit set includes 2x 6mm drill bits, it doesn't include (nor do Festool make) a 7mm bit. Also, I think the Festool masonry bits will be too short for a lot of applications.
Ideally I wanted the wood drill set, the driver bit set, plus a third empty set, so I could put other bits that I already have into it. Unfortunately, Festool do not offer an 'empty' set!
The driver bit set includes the BHS 65 CE bit holder, which retails for around £18 in the UK. The best price I could find for the driver bit set was around £23, so it seemed a no-brainer - buy an extra driver bit set, sell the bit holder, and for around £5 I'd have the 'empty' set I needed, plus more spare driver bits than I'm ever likely to need!
The outer cases fit very nicely into the attic, and the swivel mounting blocks can be removed/relocated in the case. I decided to do a bit of customising.
The drill bit set includes 2x 5mm bits, but no 3mm bit, so I swapped the extra 5mm bit for the 3mm bit I already had. This would make the very nicely printed labelling on the blocks wrong! I tried a couple of different solvents to remove the print, but nothing worked, so I resorted to a bit of 240 grit & a little very light hand sanding to remove it. I also removed the labelling from the blocks in the 'empty' set.
The driver bit set includes lots of torx bits which, whilst handy to have, I don't use very often (particularly the larger ones) so I swapped those out for some extra Pz2 bits.
At the same time, I'd also ordered a set of the 'stubby' drill bits, so they were first to go in the empty case.
Here are the results:

I really like the resulting arrangement. I may well change some things around over time, but we'll see. There were some bits I was unable to fit in, such as the 5mm sprung hinge bit, but they're now in one of the spare blocks inside the systainer to keep them together.
Oh, and a real bonus - what happens when you forget to lock the attic before opening the systainer lid?

NOTHING!!!! [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]
