We had to let our Labrador go yesterday and are heartbroken. After an awkward fall in the yard, x-rays revealed a bone tumor and fracture in his right front shoulder.

Scout lived for just over twelve years and filled our lives with immeasurable joy. An angel in a dog suit has gone to be with the Lord.

Godspeed my faithful friend. I promise to pet your tummy again some day. All my love. You were my everything.

Joe

Thanks for the kind words and for sharing these pictures.

Just didn't expect to lose Scout this way.

Can't sleep tonight and they show me how much our furry friends mean to fellow woodworkers.

May God bless their souls.

Joe

To paraphrase a comment by a friend, our pets are furry bags of love. I am sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I just got married last year and part of marrying my wife was it meant adopting a dog. I never had a dog and was vehemently opposed to having a dog. (Always a cat Person and never had a good experience with clients dogs) but I love my wife and knew I couldn’t hold her back from having a dog.

I have to say, I can’t imagine our life without her. I can’t even bare to think about when “that” time comes.

My deepest condolence’s.

So sorry to hear this. The best loved are the hardest to say to goodbye to.  [crying] [crying] [crying]

Joe,  I am so sorry to hear about your loss.  Scout has been your avatar for eons.  You had such a special love and bond.  That bond transcends the physical world and you will meet again I believe.  And there will be tail wagging as only a Lab can do.  And yours will be wagging also.

Sadly,

Peter

Thank you for all the kind words.  They mean a lot.

I have very few photos of myself with Scout but here are a couple.

He loved getting his tummy rubbed.

Joe and others losing their dogs - my condolences.

I don't have a dog - just too much responsibility for me, but we had a couple in our house while growing up, as did my sister and sister-in law. And when these dogs passed - some via accident, some with cancer, it was heartbreaking.
Again, my condolences.

My condolences, Joe. I have never been without a dog until 7 years ago when we lost our 17 year old Rescue Golden. We talked it over, and because we live on a very rough nearly vertical lot with narrow and crocked roads we decided we could no longer handle the responsibility. It was tough to make that decision, and sometimes we lament. Both our children, who are actually older than our 39 years, have dogs so we ar never far away. We now spoil there dogs.

Im so sorry for your loss. I lost my little girl Mia about 3 years ago. I was so heart broken it was like losing one of my kids. When we got back to the US last June and got settled in our house we decided to get another one. So my girls and I got little Ally. She is a sweetheart. But both my wife and I still call her Mia. She will never replace her. Dont get me wrong, we love little Ally but she isnt Mia, I still morn her. You see Mia was my therapy dog when I returned fromt the sand box illl 5 times she knew I was jacked up and wouldnt leave my side she in her little sweet doggie way took care of me and watched me.
Yes I beleived it then and believe it now. Her and I connected.

Ally we've had for going on 6 mos now, she is coming along becomeing one of the family just fine. She was a rescue as was Mia.

But she isn't Mia, we dont have that connection. But then Mia was a bit older. However we do love little Ally.

She is a sweetheart and has her own personality.
