Ripping jig

I have a contractor table saw, which I see as an accident waiting to happen; I much prefer the enclosed blade of the TS55.

Sometimes I do need to rip thin strips (for example for edging boards), so I made this super-simple jig.  It's just a 7" wide piece of wood the same thickness that I want to rip, screwed down to a piece of MDF: [attachimg=1]

This way I can clamp the rails to the jig, and rely on the friction of the rubber under the rail to hold the stock in place.

The second photo shows an 8ft piece of ply about 1/8", wide cut off a strip about an inch wide: [attachimg=2]
