So this last week I was asked by our local event center to reprint the new logo in the center of their court with my father (we are the only two hand lettering businesses around anymore). There first specifications were that they did not want a large floor sander of any kind. And they didn't want any dust. I showed them specifications on a few large floor orbit sanders but they did not like any of them. So my next thought was, well I see a good test of my Rotex 150 and a good excuse to buy a new one on top of another DC [big grin].
In total there is 256 square feet of maple to sand off the toughest poly and a really nice thick oil paint called One Shot (hand lettering paint). We started with 40 grit to get the maple back down to bare wood and than went through the steps of 60, 80, and stopped at 100. With both sanders going at the same time we managed to so far be into the process 4 hours with maybe only another 4 left. I was quite impressed with the aggressive sanding with he 40 grit and also how fast you could get hose 40 grit scratches out same with the 60 and 80.
This was just a true test of how powerful of a little machine those RO sanders are. Below are pictures of us about 1/4 through the job and I'll post more once it is conpleted.
P.S. Filled up 3 mini DC bags and almost a full 36 DC bag.
