So I got my package today, not the free swag but the other half of my Festool package bought before the price increase.

I hurried back home and tried it out for my upcoming project (and main excuse to the wife) which will be refinishing 200sq.ft. of oak flooring.
I tried it out in a small 2'x2' closet using the supplied 80grit disc. Initial opinions (for this project) are so-so, granted I am trying to use the tool somewhat outside of its intended purpose.

It did an ok job of removing the old poly but the paper quickly its sharpness, no surprise there. I was planning on doing the first cut with either 60g or 40g and finish with 100g. The main area to be sanded was coated with a stain-poly glaze to 'maintain' the floors before we took possession; the coat is still gummy and this to be considered when choosing the rough sandpaper. Should I go with a 50grit Saphir and finish with a 100g Rubin 2? What do you guys think?

Should I worry about getting to close to the edge? Will the pad suffer? Should I consider getting the hard pad? Will the hard pad stand up to quite the abuse? I could always scrape the edges by hand.

I am not new to wood floors, I did quite my fair share in the Colorado Rockies. We mainly used a 10" Lagler and a Super R7 edger, the edger has a 7" and a solid steel edgeguard and it simple rotates.

I will be putting up a video on the tubes.
Let me know what you guys think.
