Festool sent me the notice for their touring Gary Katz roadshow. The event in los angeles was hosted by Anderson Plywood in Culver City, near LAX airport.

I didn't know that it would feature a catered breakfast and lunch and would last almost 8 hours.

Oddly, there wasn't a lot of talk about Festool products. Instead, Katz showed the 60 or so guests how to size and hang a door, install a replacement window, fit and install molding around a built in bookcase, how to install wainscoting.

As a hobbyist I concentrate on making furniture. But after seeing Katz, I have new respect for finish carpenters. Measuring molding is real test of one's geometry knowledge.

This show is being held around the country. Don't miss it if it comes to area.

Gary,

There have been a number of posts on this Forum as well as TF about Gary Katz.  I went last summer and you are absolutely correct, he is wonderful.  No one should pass up his presentation if he is anywhere in your general area.

I am also a furniture hobbyist but also a DIY'er so his construction tips were really helpful to me.

The other nice thing, at least where I attended, was they they offered some Roadshow specials on tools, supplies and materials.  No Festool, of course.
