Hello !
I like to know if someone can advise me how to place / hang Festool Router 1400 under the MFT 3, so I can use the MFT 3 like a router table.

Perhaps there is already a good construction and description how to do that.

Many thanks !

Regards,

Ed.

Personally I am not a fan of the thought of mounting a router into the MFT, but can see the appeal.

Here is a video link from Guido Henn that might give you some ideas - especially how to mount the router:

A Festool rail works pretty well as a straight fence too. A couple blocks of wood on each side of the bit allow you to create most any fence situation needed.

Personally I would recommend using a piece of melamine and a couple of saw horses. That way you get a proper router plate and are not cutting a giant hole into the MFT top.

A cheaper Triton router would work great to permanently leave in the router table too. It allows top height adjust when mounted in a table.

I would be concerned about deflection of the MDF top with weight hanging from it (probably negligible if you don't leave the router attached for long periods of time).

I mounted an ELU MO177 router in an MFT1080 Table and the top promptly sagged in the middle. I had to brace the top from underneath with some steel braces and some bolts to adjust the level of the top. I also found that the effort to get it out and put it back was too much trouble and bought an OF2020 as another router. That subsequently finished up in a CMS table and I don't use the ELU much.

Many thanks for all your advice and suggestions! Very helpfull!
I think I will make the router table as demonstrated of the video Peter Halle posted.

So glad I have joined FOG. So many usefull information.

I also found this inspiring video on YouTube. A very simple and genius router table.
