Router bit

Now I can not comment on this exact bit, but I can comment on Eagle America bits in general.

I have used all the version of the Eagle and they are very good. Their top line is every bit as good as Whiteside and they are made in the USA.

Actually, some of the Whiteside bits of late aren't near as good as they were in the 2000's, not sure why. So just the name Whiteside doesn't mean what it used to for me. I have to rate bit by bit now as some Whiteside have really let me down.

I would not be surprised if this Eagle America version was fantastic, they are definitely good bits.

The reviews on Amazon listed for this Whiteside bit state some issues I have had with other bits by them. This particularity Whiteside bit gets far from perfect ratings on Amazon and  some of the guys on the router forum that have used it over the last couple years havn't raved about it either. I have chalked up some of the negative comments to using under powered routers, I would love to toss one on my OF2200 and give it a try. The two reviewers going against the grain on Amason  reviews state the bit not lasting long enough before it Dulls. That is the experience I have had with some of my newest Whiteside bits as well. The comparable Freud bits actually last me twice as long in my shop and I really am a Whiteside advocate.

I am thinking long and hard about it, this bit has my name written all over it and is basically designed for my type of work.

Might be worth a call to one of the Whitesides themselves.  I bet they'd be interested in what you have to say , especially if you have empirical data to support what your saying.

Then again, with another source that's as good and comparably priced , it's prob. not.

I remember reading those reviews as well.  I have the ultimate combination flush trim model of this bit from Whiteside, and it does well either in the 1400 or the 2200 (and my Triton table router).  I haven't put that many miles on the bit yet, but enough to where I can say it has remained sharp after those other reviewers are claiming theirs dulled.

Forum  -- "ear3" and "dovetail65" make reference to router forums they are using.  I have not come across any of these in the past.  Which ones do people find useful?  Any links would be most appreciated.  Thank you
