I just received my new RS2E and plugged it into my 33 but it doesn't seem to trigger the autostart. Is it supposed to? When the cord is plugged into a wall outlet the RS2E works.

Do you have the CT set to "Auto"?

Does your CT33 turn on manually?  If not.. is it plugged in?

Yes, set to auto (and then turned off and back on just to be sure).

And yes it runs otherwise. Next... [smile]

Does your CT auto start other tools with no problem? How loose is the plug when inserted? There have been a couple postings about problems with the receptacle on the vac.

And also to tap on the ct! [big grin]
could be faulty switch.try a hair dryer on auto to see if its the switch

It works on auto for my other tools. The plug from the RS is really loose in there...perhaps that's the cause. I'l try tapping, whopping, smacking, etc... [big grin]

Oh, that's a good clue.  Try bending the prongs on the RS2E outward or inward, to "force" contact.  If this works, it could be that your CT socket needs to be replaced as 1) the contacts are worn, or 2) the outlet itself is wonked.

Do a search, as there are other threads regarding this.  Here's one... search for the other, too.

Well, nothing worked for autostart.  :( So I turn it on manual and away we go...

However, the sander is wonderful. It's taking off what I need in a controlled manner and that table top is flat! It does jump a bit when it comes to a high spot but I've found the advice on here helpful to keep it moving, highest speed, etc. The dust collection is virtually total, even better than the other Festool sanders.

That's the report...now back to scrabble.
