Anyone know why this power cord is permanently attached to the tool vs the plug-it power cord that is interchangeable amongst tools?

Easy. It was designed before the advent of the plug-it.

and never redesigned sigh...Festool put a plugit on it for goodness sake so I can buy one.

Well, sort of. The RS 200, which is NAINA, has a Plug-It.
