I have a RTS 400 and when I use it with my CT 36 it loses power. It will come and go and sometimes the CT and RTS power off all together. When I plug the RTS straight in to the wall it works fine.  The CT works fine with all other tools. This has me puzzled. Any suggestions?

Connect a kill-a-watt or some other measuring gauge between your tool and the vacuum and see what your current draw is.  The auto start plug on the vacuum is a protected circuit.  It has some smarts to isolate the vacuum from overload.  It is a pretty sensitive circuit.  If your sander is drawing more current than the vacuum deems safe, it will disconnect the circuit.  Your plugging it into a standard outlet is not regulated other than your circuit breaker rate.
