I have a RTS 400 grinder. Yesterday without any reason it suddenly stopped I waited for 30 minutes and then started again then it works but within 1 minute it stopped again. This morning i've started it and it works but after turn it off and restart it doesnt work anymore. Is there anyone wth the same experience or knows what might be the problem/cause

Thnx

John

Have you tried blowing it out with a compressor? I'm not 100% certain but i recall having a similar problem and blowing the dust out solved it.

it sounds to me that you might have a female grinder. Sometimes they don't know if they are coming or going.  [big grin]

If it has been used alot, the brushes might be worn out. New ones are about 17,5 euro. (part nr 490714)

I blew the machine but still it doesnt work. I even used another switch from my other Festool (RS400), still no solution.
I took out the coal brushes and checking them, but they are still good i think (still about 1 cm left)
But might be it's because of the brushes.

P.S. Frans where can i buy new brushes

did you check to make sure there is power getting to the switch. i had a disk sander that stoped working, drove me mad trying to find what was wrong. i must of squashed the cable and broke a wire inside or something as i had power at one end but not at the other.

This is dreadfully simple and obvious but sometimes we overlook those things in the heat of the moment of problem solving. But this has happened to me.

Check your plug connection at the extractor. Sometimes after getting yanked around, the plug prongs will bend slightly and compromise the connection into the receptacle on the extractor, resulting in an intermittent condition that you actually cant see because it is concealed under the little receptacle flap. This happened to me just today actually with the RO90. Check for a straight and secure connection. If you have other tools with the same plugit cord, try a different cord. Hope you find the problem.

It is the connection of the plug it cord to the tool. Had the same thing happen to my DS400. You need to replace the encircled part (stekkerhuis 230V #489925). Costs only €5. It can also be the Plug-It cord itself though I think that in this case it is less likely.

John,

Any Festool dealer can order any parts for you. You can find the part numbers in the ekat (see the website: festool.nl, service & info, onderdelentekeningen).
