RTS400 pad replacement

I bought a used RTS400 sander (not certain because the label is long gone) several years ago and have no idea how to replace the foam-backed velcro sander pad. This not like my Ryobi which has the velcro/foam pad attached to a plastic plate that screws to the sander. I bought Festool replacement pads but they do not have a plastic backing and there is no adhesive included to glue or instructions or pictures in the manual or online re: how to attach the pad to the unit. I have a plastic frame that the old velcro/foam pad was glued to and I would be shocked to think that festool would design replacement pads to require owners to scrape off glue from a flimsy old pad assembly and glue the new ones to it. Any suggestions other than buy a new sander would be most appreciated

What you have there is not a replacement pad but an interface pad meant for a bit of cushioning on curved or delicate surfaces. Quite a bit cheaper than a new pad, but you need the pad first to attach it. You attach the real pad with the 4 black screws.

I honestly don't know what the black grate thingy in your picture is for. Never seen it and my RTS400 doesn't have it.

By the way, I think you have the older model RS400 instead of the RTS400. If the part with the dust port on it is black instead of grey it is the older one.

Made a little mistake this morning because my morning coffee didn't kick in yet.  [embarassed]

As soon as I got my sanders out for work I realised the RTS400 has the black part, and the older RS400 has the grey, so it's just the other way around and you do have the newer RTS400.
