Rubin sandpaper

I'm having terrible problems with Rubin paper holding large debris pieces and making large swirl scratches.  This is on a 125 ets.  It's not the sander as we've changed to some mirka garnet paper with no problems.  The rubin paper seems to load up and hold small slivers of wood.  Does anyone have a remedy for this.  Am I using the wrong paper?  180 grit final sanding on red oak.

Jeff,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you're having issue with Rubin. I'm not familiar with Mirka garnet. Does it have holes, or is it a mesh-type?

Are you using dust extraction?

Are the pieces of debris possibly already on the wood? I would think that 180 grit would create what I would classify as "large debris". Any debris between the sander and wood, would potentially (and probably) make swirls.

If possible, could you post a photo or email me a photo at sho@festoolusa.com?

Alternatively, you can give us a call at the number below and talk to one of our guys that can help troubleshoot the cause.

Thanks,
Shane
