Sad But True Local Story About Bad Lighting

That is really a terrible story. Seems there have been a rash of fires in that town.
Real bad start to the year for the poor guy, not only burning down his business and loosing 500K, but a woodworking shop and someones apartment.
I wonder what kind of lighting he was using?
I had decided to buy a second Syslite.
I need to get a good stand for them.

Right?

Around here, most auto guys are still using badly outdated incandescent dropcords or..gasp..halogens. Its a real pet peeve of mine when people will jeopardize so much over something so little. $175 looks like a pretty friggin good deal all of a sudden.

makita has the new LED 18v to go with everyone's lxt tools also. thats a good point you have and i won't go buy the new bulb for my halogens.

Sounds like a great marketing opportunity for Festool
- Syslite bright enough to work by but not hot enough to torch your work site
Recently I had to look at someone else's work because the client was concerned. Had the tell the client the 18ga. lamp cord running through the walls and cabinets to feed lights wasn't compliant or safe. They weren't happy, contractor had to fix it and I don't think he'll be getting another call.

Unbelievable. I wonder if that contractor was the cheapest quote they got?

Some guys around here use kerosene torpedo heaters in new construction homes...it always makes me squeamish.  I have a propane torpedo heater but it sits in my garage because I'm so afraid I'm going to burn down someone house.

I still use halogens onsite.  Just have to make sure I keep flammable liquids away from them!

Same here Jon, I have a torpedo. I would rather be cold than run it.
