I’ve heard that if you want both a sander and dust extractor both, then you should buy together as this is one of the few ways to get at least a bit if a deal on festool.

Where is a good place to find package deals like this?

And what kind of reduction in price can I expect to get for buying a package?

I’m thinking Rotex 125 and 36 extractor with the auto clean feature

Thanks
Duke

Welcome to the FOG :)

As this is a global community it is best to put in your country so folks can better assist you.

I believe you should be able get 10% off with the package deal. There are probably a few stores that sell Festool locally to you. In the USA prices are set to MSRP so it is impossible to get a "deal", therefore starting a relationship with a local dealer could be beneficial. I have a few stores near me that are locally owned Festool dealers, and where I like to visit and purchase from.

One other thought would be to determine if the RO125 or RO150 is preferential for YOU. My first sander was an RO150, and the far larger surface area of it still makes it ideal for me years later, with the point being I am glad I went bigger. The RO series of sanders are perfect for rougher work which tend to be larger surface areas. Most often I use the RO150 with 24-36 grit. The same RO sander can go right up to 500 grit or higher. The RO150 also became my go to polisher for vehicles, etc.

I do believe Festool now offers a sandpaper assortment for the their sanders. Great way to get started without having to buy so many boxes of different grits.

I was under the impression that the "combo deals" were discontinued awhile back, but I could be wrong about that. Back in the day, they were actually marketed, but I don't thing I've seen that for some time now.

Of course discontinuing a starter set to get someone into Festool doesn't make any sense, at least to me. I bought my MFT table with the discount. Bummer that promo is gone.

I remember those combo deals and looked it up.  This is copied from a major dealer in N.A.:

"Until December 31, 2019, a 10% discount is given on a CT Dust extractor or a MFT/3 multifunction table when purchased with another Festool power tool on the same order. If you can't find the package combination you are looking for, contact our customer service department."

So sounds like that is not an option any more in North America.

Before you settle on a dust extractor, make sure you are familiar with Bluetooth.  It comes standard on the Midi.

Thanks for the advice.

Looks like I need to find an online retailer as I’m 90miles from anyone who sells festool
Local.

I am going to assume you are in the United States since you mentioned miles.

In the U.S. dealers have to sell at list price unless an item is discontinued, etc.  Also if a dealer gets dropped by Festool they may unload their items at a discount since they no longer are worried about keeping Festool happy.  But basically just about everyone will have the same price and usually free shipping.  Some do have better service than others.

Also check "One and Done Festool USA".  These are items that were returned for whatever reason, have been checked out and being resold at a discount.  I consider this a crap shoot. Usually a good experience but not guaranteed. Items pop up one at a time, and when that item is sold, it rolls to the next item.  Depending on the item, they may be there for days or just a few minutes.  Discount used to be about 25%, but is now only 15-20% usually.  It is like used cars.  When the supply line hit some bumps, dealers ran out of inventory and everything was backordered.  So the used stuff also disappeared.  On Recon you have to make sure you are buying the current model (know the SKU of the current model).  Otherwise you may end up with older inventory.  When Festool makes a change, like changing to a Bluetooth battery or changing the systainer (case) the tool comes in, then that creates a new SKU and also old inventory.  It may or may not make a difference to you, depending on what was changed. For example, the mini and midi dust extractors had Bluetooth added a few years ago, so if you are using a sander with a Bluetooth battery, switching the sander on will switch the extractor on automatically.

Keep an eye on Craigslist in your area. Welcome to FOG.

I wrote Crap shot.  It somehow was changed to  "I consider this a junk shoot."

As mentioned above, the dust extractor package deals previously offered in the US market were phased out. The only such package we have currently, includes a CT 36 AutoClean Dust Extractor and Planex Easy Drywall Sander (along with an abrasive assortment in Systainer). It's being offered for a limited time - view complete details.

I will tell you that Chip From Nirvana Tool is one of  the good guys.  Excellent service from this company. A few years ago I sent him a general e-mail question around 10 PM one evening, and got an instant answer.  That and other things have impressed me about Chip at Nirvana.  I will also say they are very quick to ship.

Chip-I hope your niece's college fund is doing good modeling that Festool shirt.  Good job teaching her business from the ground up.
