hi there.
i have a dremel and often use it for sanding aqward places and rounding over edges etc. usually where other tools cant get to. i have it set up all the time ready to use .
the drums that come with it are not great , they dont last that long and are very dear.
im nearly out and am looking for more. my local dealer wants way too much for the dremel ones . i see ones on ebay for 7 gbp for 100. but at that price they wont be good .

are there any proper sandpaper companies  selling sanding drum sleeves like the dremel ones .
i would rather get good ones and pay twice the price than buy the ebay ones and change them every few seconds

thanks alan

I got these these with an air tool from Hongkong. At $1.30 for ten sleeves and the drum it is difficult not to buy them  ;)

I will get to try them out in a few days time. They seem to be good quality, as do many of ther other tools they sell.
YMMV

Alan , my info is of a Co. in Wyoming, USA. , so I don't know how useful it will be to you in Ireland. Here it is :A&H Abrasives--1-800- 831- 6066  their FAX 1-800-307-237-4122. Good Luck, Carlos

thanks guys.
i am still holding out for a uk or eu supplier. but  might buy from the us  if i cant find anything closer.
i cant seam to find a consistant name for these drums so that i can google them. each company uses a different name. any ideas

Dremel and Proxxon do their own brand of sanding drums, but I'm not sure how much better they are.  You might want to look at getting one of the Caroll drums, then you can cut your own sand paper.

i have 2 of the carrol drums for the drill press. they work great but can be a pain to put the paper on at times.

i use them for the main sanding  but use the dremel to sand angles or blend little areas together, mostly where other sanders cant get at.
i used the dremel to sand a hole in metal conduit for electrical wires  because i only had a 19mm holesaw and needed  19.4  for the brass screw on the socket. a 20mm is what the sparkys use but the dremel worked a treat.
i find the dremel ones to be very dear (boxs of 6 for 6 euro) in the last week i have used 4 of the dremel ones  and am out of 80grit.
the cheap ebay ones are 6-8 gbp for 100 but what quality are they.
i am looking for  somewhere in the middle.loads of them for 20  euro range.

I get these from Klingspor's retail shop in the US: Klingspor 1/2 X 1/2 Sanding Drums  They are about the same quality as the Dremel OEM sleeves and probably are the same.

They have an office in the UK.  Contact them and they should be able to assist:
