Yesterday, I completed a crib for my grandson. This is my second crib project, and I think my best so far. My daughter showed me a picture a while back of a crib that she liked. The manufacturer is no longer building them, so all I had to go on was the one picture she showed me. A few Sketchup versions later, and I had a design that we agreed looked right. It's made of QSWO, though it's hard to tell through the stain. It's wonderfully heavy, and pretty sturdy. The panels are Shaker-inspired, and are my first attempt at any kind of a raised panel project. Stain is GF water-based stain (Espresso). I followed that up with 3 coats of GF Arm-R-Seal (gloss) and 2 coats of satin. I generally do a pretty poor job on finishes, so I purchased TWW's DVD explaining his finishing process, and I gotta say it made for a better finish. Festool was heavily used:
MFT and Tracks
TS55 Track Saw
DF500 Domino
OF1400 Router, along with the CMS Router Table
ETS150 and RO90 Sanders
I delivered the crib today, and they loved it.
