Second hand festool

Not sure if this is in the right place but here goes....
If i was to buy a second hand tool that is only a few months old and has been registered by its own for the warranty,
Could I then transfer that warranty into my name or is this the downside to second hand kit?

There appear to be some conflicting statements. There is the general statement on the Festool U.S. website and the detailed statement within the user manual for a specific product. Both statements include a clause about country and state laws that may override the terms of the warranty. I do not think there is one clear answer because of the conflicting statements and possible local laws. I think it would be best to contact Festool and a local lawyer as to your possible coverage.

Since the Original Poster is from the UK then the UK or European Union law and warranties would apply. There are major differences in UK and European Union warranty law compared to the U.S. law.
