This is so obvious in hindsight I'm almost embarrassed to post it, but I don't recall seeing it mentioned and so here goes...
I've been a bit dismayed that the fence on the MFT is kinda wobbly--I get it all squared up but it's not really locked down. Looking at the knobs that screw on below the table, I realized that they really didn't bear on the table at all, so I slipped a couple of fender washers on them, retightened, and voila! the fence is far more stable. With the plastic stop attached on the end rail mine is pretty solid. A $.25 improvement.
