I would like to buy a self centering bit for Blum Tandem slides. Would anyone know what size will fit perfectly in the holes of the slides. Also, I see there are different manufacturers that make these bits. Which one's are the best quality? Snappy, Vix-Bit, Makita etc.
Thanks,
JC

I use a vix bit on drawer slides when they've got the meat to hang it up. But also some of them are sized perfectly for a larger fix bit; the fix bit hits the cabinet wall but it's centered.

With melamine you only need to tap it, just but through the surface a little bit, so you can use larger vix bits that won't wonder if the slide doesn't have the tapered hole.

Festool has a very good Centrotec one (#492525).
Don't no if it's available in the USA?
It drills holes of Ø5 mm for Eurostyle screws which fit the Blum Tandem slides perfectly.
Otherwise Blum also sells a self centering bit for normal screws (M01.ZZ03).
These types of drills are also sold by other manufactures like Snappy in size 3/32" or 7/64".

Good to know. I got myself one from Germany to complete the CE stuff I have....

This is the bit set I use, the smallest one gets used on the Blum slides (and other brands). I use the larger ones for other tasks.

I have a couple of the 5 mm Festool bits, one I purchased individually and one that comes in the installer set. The door bumpers I use are stem type bumpers, the Festool bit works great for drilling the necessary hole. The outer barrel fits perfectly in a 5/16" hole.
