I have two MFT's and I’m thinking about building a "cart" and tying them together.  I’ve seen a few carts for the MFT over the years….but I’m looking for some suggestions on features and functionality if “you” were building one today.

I realize every person’s needs are different.  For example, it would be nice to use the space under the cart for Systainer storage…but I don’t use Systainers in my shop.  All my tools are stored in a common location where I can quickly grab them.

A simple version is a torsion box top and storage drawers underneath.  The MFT’s would sit on top.  But maybe I should be more creative.

Any thoughts?

The main thing that comes to mind is simply storage. Just consider what you would want to put in it. For example you could build in compartments for larger items like a small compressor, dust extractor, power strip, etc. Or whatever else would be commonly used at the bench.

Small clamp storage (like the Festool quick clamps).

Shallow drawer for marking and measuring tools, bench dogs, etc.

I did a mortise and peg system in the legs of mine, like Timothy Wilmots, to aid in vertical clamping but you could also do T-rack.

And have my Woodpecker MFT square stored on the side.

Thank you nicholam77.  Some good ideas there.

I have a Kapex but don't have a dedicated location for it.  I could make the cart long enough to sit the Kapex between the two MFT's.  However, it would probably be "in the way" too often and would aggravate me each time I needed to move the SCMS to use the MFT's.

Although, I cut from the left side of the blade most of the time, so it wouldn't "have" to be in the middle of the cart.  It would be nice to make three carts (2 for MFTs and 1 for Kapex) that could be combined in any combination but my floor isn't level enough to enable changes without a lot of set up (using leveling casters).

I need to do some more research.  The more I think about it, the more I'm liking the idea to create a multifunction station for the MFT's, Kapex and sanders.  Maybe even incorporating better dust collection into the design.
