Hi Guys

First time poster from Glasgow in the UK.  [smile]

Having just bought the Senco F-16a finish nailer, converting from many years using the Paslode finishers. My question being is that can I use Paslode 16ga angled nails in the Senco or best stocking up on Sencos own nails. I have loads of Paslode nails but popped a few strips in the Senco and even on the deepest drive setting the gun struggled to set the nail below the surface, made me think that "is the Senco nail a different design to the Paslode?".
The reason I am posting on a Festool forum talking about Senco  [blink] [tongue] is that I think the Senco finishing gun is still relativly new over here thus discussion forums are quite hard to find.
Just wondered if any1 had simmilar findings with this gun.

Cheers

Fred

[welcome]

I've got the brad version of the same gun and I have no problem regardless of brand of C brad. I realise it's different though.

Have you played with the depth setting?

I can only suggest getting a few of a similar spec Senco nails and trying them alternately and see if it makes a difference.

I've been temped to get the gun you've got to "finish the pair" ... I'll keep an eye on this thread [wink]

cheers,

Kev.

Im actually in my workshop fannying around with the gun as we speak.
Just recieved an order of "Firmahold" angled nails, tried them out and seem to be driving the head just under the surface a bit better, but looking at the design of each nails (paslode v firmahold) they look exactly the same.
Trying to find a reasonably priced supplier of Senco angled nails over here is quite difficult, cheapest I've found is £33 for 2000 50mm nails ($61 AUD / $53 USD), compared to £6 Firmahold nails ($11 AUD / $10 USD). which being a Scotsman is quite a hard pill to swallow  [tongue].
As a typical Carpenter I started to take the top cover off the gun to have a look at the adjustable "plunge" rod to see if I could increase the depth any more but then asked myself the question "I shouldn't have to do this to a new gun", so quickly put it back together before a spring or something shot across the workshop and lost forever.[big grin].
I'm just frustrated because Its a smashin' piece of kit to look at and use.
Ill order a box of Sencos and see how I go.
Ill let you know how I get on.

First, [welcome] to the FOG!

I have been looking at the Senco Fusion Nailers so I also am interested in what you find out. I suspect that your options are different from ours here in the US, but learning about your experience may well lend insight to what we find over here.

From what I can see from "down here", the nailers themselves follow reasonable market driven prices - the consumables seem to be the real gotcha. My usage is low, so it's a relatively small cost component. Fred seems to be a heavy user ( of nails Fred [smile] )

I did find this in my hunt:

http://www.nailgundepot.com/nail-size-compatibility-chart-for-finish-nailers.asp

http://www.nailgundepot.com/Senco-Fusion-FN65DA-15-Gauge-Cordless-Finish-Nailer-114-to-212-Details.html

... but I don't think compatibility has been tested - I'd love to see a consumables tested web site ... imagine industry wide abrasives rated for sanders, nails rated for nail guns ... maybe it exists! Great opportunity for banner and link revenue.
