Who sharpens Festool blades  best ?
Also, an important consideration  , do they stick you on shipping and handling ?

Don't have a particular sharpener in mind, but any good blade sharpening operation wil be ok. The price and length of time will vary according to the shop's policy.

Call around and talk to some local professional woodworking businesses and see who they use for sharpening services.  Local retailers that send your blades out are not a good choice, in my experience.  The sharpening services that the pros use have typically been in the business a long time, have the right equipment for the job, and can be relied upon to do it well.  If you are interested in mail order sharpening, I can recommend Scott's Sharpening Service in Glendale, AZ (home of the Super Bowl bound Arizona Cardinals :) ), but the two way shipping charges are likely more than the sharpening charges for just one blade.  It isn't Scott that will "stick you on shipping and handling", it is mostly the charges from Fed EX or UPS or USPS.

David,

THANKS - much more thorough response than mine!

We have a local store called Fastenal, but it is a national chain store that seems to be tailored for industries. They offer sharpening services, and I was going to give them a try. They currently have my framing nail gun working on that.

One of my 48-tooth 55 blades is currently in a pile of dull blades I'm getting ready to ship off to Forrest.  I'll wait a few months until I have another blade to go since I have fresh "spares" for all in the pile right now.

I've had good experiences with Burn's tools.  They've sharpened a number of my ts55 blades a bunch of times, and my Kapex blades a couple go arounds.  Always good, quick turnaround (about two weeks from my door and back). Blades seem as sharp and tuned as any other sharpening service I've used.  Seem to be competitively priced.

Usual disclaimer, no connection to Burns.

Maybe Matthew will enable FOG members to compile a list of sharpening service providers that we can all use.  I'm thinking by analogy to the Tire Rack that has a database of >4000 recommended installers across the USA, but without need of as much work by Matthew.

Hartville Tool recommends Campbell Saw in Canton, OH.  I have not used them yet.  Anyone who takes blades and router bits to Hartville Tool to be resharpened is actually getting work from Campbell.

somebody has to pay for shipping or handling.....

I use forrest sharpening service,  they do a great job, as others has mentioned and they are reasonably priced for the service they provide.

you ship the blades to them with your cc # and then they call you with the actual cost, usually 20-30 bucks is all.  sometimes less sometimes more.

it is less than dinner for 2 at a dinner.

i have also been using forrest for all my sharpening services for years.  Quick turn around. They are located in Clifton NJ so i guess it depends where your shipping from if it's worth it.  But your Blades will come back better then new. Blades, jointer and planer knives as well. Haven't tried router or shaper bits with them yet, but will soon someday.

BTW I love the spell check on this site, lol
