This last fall I visited the local SW store and asked if they had a paint cross reference chart for Marvin windows. I mentioned that I had several 36" Marvin round windows that I had yet to install and that while I would be willing to bring one in for them to perform a "Color Match" on, because of their 90# weight, I was looking for a simpler solution. I mentioned the color of the frame was Marvin Designer Black and the SW sales associate said there was no need to bring in the windows as they had a Marvin cross reference chart.

Fast forward...today I went to the same SW store and attempted to order 2 gallons of Marvin Color Match Designer Black paint. As luck would have it, the gentleman that I originally talked with is no longer an employee and the 2 other employees were not aware of ANY Marvin cross reference charts. This was the look on their 2 faces... [eek]  [eek] ... [smile]

Is anyone aware of the existence of Marvin cross reference charts and how would I be able to forward those to the local SW store? I've also heard about SW having cross reference charts to Benny Moore paints...that makes sense so Marvin, Pella or Andersen charts shouldn't be such an oddity.

I did a previous SW Color Match with Marvin windows 5-6 years ago that were Arctic White but I had to bring a window to the SW facility and have it color scanned.

I think I might call Marvin rather than try SW.

All my local employees are idiots who just don't care. There's an entire SW sub reddit for employees where they are all entitled probably college age complaining about how they hate their job and are quiet quitting doing the bare minimum. I should really switch brands.

Thanks Matt...I'll give Marvin customer service a call. Their customer service really is 2nd to none...the last item they delivered to me was using overnight service at no charge.

Over the years, I've had a hit & miss relationship with the local S-W stores. The residential store probably rates a 70% to 80% success rate while the commercial coatings group hovers around the 20% rate.  [sad]  This latest hiccup is very typical of the bungled information I get.

I blame part of this on me, when I received the answer last fall that S-W had paint codes for Marvin Color Match Designer Black, I should have asked for the paint codes at that time...problem resolved.  [smile]  I really like the Color Match system, the times I've used it the color match is exact and it's painless. I remember the old paint stirrer and hair dryer days for color matching.  [eek]

Another S-W service I've used recently (last week) and would recommend is their S-W Color Consult service. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Becky a Virtual Color Consultant talking about house and garage color options. I'd previously emailed Becky photos of the house & garage so she was up to speed when the phone consultation began.
