Shortening New Smooth Hose

Hello all![attachimg=1] My first post as I can’t seem to find much info on this. I’ve got a Ron Paulk Total Station, I’ve got my router, chop saw and table saw set up on this. I plan on making a selectable manifold for dust extraction powered by my CT26. I’d like to use the new 36mm smooth hose, make a few short lengths dedicated to each tool. Rather than unplugging/plugging.

Sorry....what are you asking? If it’s about a manifold, Peter Parff has a video on one he made up for his shop and Ron Paulk did one also...don’t have the link but both easy to search..

Sorry I should have made myself more clear! I’m looking at the new 5m 36mm hose. I want to know if you can make your own hose with it using Festool hose ends like I’ve seen other members do with the Bosch anti-static hose. The hose runs between the tools to the manifold with only be a few feet.

      I have shortened my CT-SYS D27 new smooth hose. It is pretty much the same as shortening the old style hose. Directions for that can be found  HERE.

    Main difference is that the fabric cover is held in place at the end (under the connector ) by some friction tape. I replaced the tape with electrical tape. When you put the tape on pull it tight and smooth into the threads. The connector is threaded on (left hand) ans is very tight. I needed some large pliers to turn it.

  When you cut the fabric use something really sharp to get a very clean smooth cut. I used a combination of knife and scissors. Both the hose and fabric need to be cut square, and clean. Be mindful of the fabric length since it slides  on the hose. 

    The constant diameter hoses should be no problem to change the length. I  think  you can probably shorten the tapered hose a little.  The 32 27 is a change of 5mm over about ten feet. So .5mm per foot. I am guessing that a small change in diameter will still allow for the connector to thread back on.  I don't know for sure , so attempt at your own risk.

    I can only say for certain that the D27 from the CT-SYS can be shortened. I don't see why the D36 would be different...... but?
