Just built this simple crosscut jig seeing as tho i dont have a MFT yet,      i guess i should have purchased the MFT as i`ve just aquired a TS-55,  TS-75,  RO-150,  CT-26,  and the domino.      LOL,    i thought i`d better put the credit card away for a little while anyway.

It`s on a 12mm sheet of MDF,   with 19mm Jarrah side rails and 2 small jarrah stops at a square to the jarrah guide rails.   I`ve allowed for the width of the festool guide rail and this jig is setup to cut 19mm (3/4") boards which i use mostly.

Here`s a pic of the Jig,        it`s not too heavy and sit atop of my homemade MFT,  i secure it with 2 bench dogs that are drilled in line with the holes on my table.

I`ve got 4 Jarrah boards i`m going to square off at once,     i use a Veritas hold down to keep them all pressed against the jarrah side rail

Here`s the guide rail set against the stops,    the stops are square to the jarrah side rail.

Here is the finished result

This isnt state of the art or anything but makes crosscuting with the TS-55 & 75 a breeze,      i usually cut smaller boards on the mitresaw,     but this method is handy when crosscutting anything thats too wide for the mitre saw.
I just cut these boards all at once in preperation for joining with the domino.

Gotta get myself a MFT sometime soon tho,         i`ve just made up a top for an old metal base that was sitting around here,    hoping to find some time in the next couple of weeks to build a decent base wit castors etc.

Hope someone finds this usefull ;)

The festool gear does make life easier thats for sure,        the only problem is stopping at buying one tool  ;D

Just sending you a PM now,      your use of the Frontline bandsaw jig looks very impressive too!! ;)

Hi there Brice,

Cheers for the kind words sir!!
The speaker cabs came about allmost by mistake actually,          i had a hard time buying a decent speaker cab for my guitar amp a while back now and thought why not build a hardwood cab.      Chris Brady at www.bradydrums.com.au has been building drums out of jarrah (our local hardwood here in west oz) for quite a while and i figured it`d be a great tonewood for a guitar speaker cabinet also.
It ended up snowballing and it`s kept me quite busy i must say.

Well busy enough that i still havent had a chance to do anything about the dodgy looking frame underneath my home made MFT    ;D

Hi Justin,

Cheers mate,          i use the leigh D16 for the dovetails but i`m using the domino`s on this latest hardwood cab with a few domino`s added in there for show,  it certainly speeds up the whole process.

Go for it with the crosscut jig,      i used 12mm MDF but perhaps 16mm may be better,      i glued the 19mm jarrah side rails on there first,      then squared up the small stoppers and glued them in place.        I had to move one stopper a few times before the glue set in order to get a dead on square cut,    do a few test runs and you should be able to set it up so it`s pretty close to dead on square.

Good luck and let us know how yo get on.
