Not sure if this has been posted before but I was pleased today when I figured it out.

I dont have a traditional heavy woodworking bench and use my Festool 1080 for a lot of things. I have a Moxon vise attached to the 1080 which sits on my version of a rolling bench/sysport.

To do some clamping that I struggle with I ordered one of those Sjoberg smart workstation pro vises. The plan was to clamp it wherever needed which may be my center island bench which just has a 1 1/2 inch top or possiblly even my Festool 1080.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the large holes in the Sjoberg base line up with the Festool top.

So anyone looking for a quick way to add a more traditional vise onto a 1080 or MFT table, this is one way to do it.

Thanks for the post.  I have looked at those several times, and just haven't pulled the trigger.

I've mounted my Lie Nielsen Dovetail Vise on the end of my MFT1080 at times. Has worked nice.

Glad to see it works.  I have the 1080 and Sjoberg as well as the Moxon vise. How did you mount the Moxon to the 1080?

The moxon is supported by the bench the 1080 sits on but is held to the 1080 via countersunk hardware to the track on the Festool table.

I was playing with my Sjoberg on the 1080 table today and wondered how you attached the Sjoberg to the MFT?  My holes on the MFT are larger than those on the Sjoberg and it looks like you'd have to drill some holes in the base of the Sjoberg to get the holes exposed and lined up?  Am I missing something here?

Mine dropped right in. I just pushed the Sjoberg dogs down in the bottom holes and all four lined up.

Ahhh...the light bulb goes on....I see that the movable vise has the holes all the way through.

I regularly use a Sjoberg smart vice pro on an MFT/3 using Peter Parfitt's tall Parf Dogs.  The dogs are a perfect fit in the holes on the feet of the Sjoberg vice.

I'm looking at the Smart Vice as an addition to my MFT1080.  However, I've standardized on 20mm dogs and holes.  Are the holes in the Smart Vice 20mm?

Thanks,

Dan.

No, they are a little over 19mm.  One of my precision dogs is way to large to fit.

The advertisements indicate that the holes are 3/4".

As for mounting the vise to the MFT, why be concerned about the holes? Just clamp it where you want it with a pair of FS clamps (through MFT holes and grabbing on to vise's base.)

You would have to clamp from bottom but should work for most.

In my case I am not sure I could get clamps up in there as my 1080 sits on a rolling bench without legs. I love being able to through it on anywhere with dogs.

I must have a early version because my "feet" are just little clear plastic that glue on the bottom. The only place holes go all the way through are the two holes on the smaller moveable vise portion.

You're not going mad [member=4826]suds[/member], mine is the same as yours. August 2013 vintage Smart Vice/Vise.
