For quite some time I wanted to build one, and finally did. It had been subject at popular woodworking magazine where I was first introduced to the bench.
And as we are in a big time renovation (you can read and see more on that here) , there's lots of construction wood around, and that's what I've used.

An original Skansen bench seen here:

I've used my TS for jointing the top, Carvex for making a leg template, Carvex was also used for roughly cutting the legs, OF 1400 for routing the legs, T 12 with Centrotec forstner bits to clean out most of the waste material for the mortises in the bench top and I used the OF with guide to route the mortises. Finally a Rotex 90 for sanding.

Thanks for watching!

I like the look of the bench.  It's both elegant and substantial at the same time.  What wood did you use?

Hi Frank
It's pine, one of Finland's main export products I believe [big grin]

ps: liked you totem!

Forgot to mention, the bench is finished with oil (whatever it is, the bottle says teak)

Next I would like to make this table:

I really really like the table.  The bench was good but the table is great.  I hope you get to make it and please post pictures here when you do.

Thanks for the comment about my totem pole.

The sliding dovetail is a really interesting and functional detail.
