Small wall mount dust collector?

Is anyone using a small wall mount dust collector? I’m stuck in a spare bedroom and just don’t have any room for a large machine or even a roll around unit. I recently got an incra router table with a clean sweep box. I’m afraid the dust being pulled down and lack of air to the motor will fry it. If anyone has some insight to these little collectors I’d love to hear it. I’m also wondering if I can get enough flow with a dust deputy hooked up to one of these units and direct venting to the outside. Thanks

Should work fine.  Lots of people use inexpensive harbor freight collectors and add a cyclone.  Make sure you have a dedicated 15-20A circuit (whatever the motor requires) and be aware they will be loud.

Just wanted to add, for the safety of the rest of the house, make sure you have a good seal around the door frame.
Otherwise airborne particles will find their way around the house.

if you share a wall with a neighbor, an wall mount DC will be practically unbearable for them.

Since you are in a place which is warm most of the time but still subject to rain, can you setup the dust collector outside? Depending on your style of window you might be able to make a simple pass through that you close the window down on. It can be secured against opening from the outside in any number of ways that are completely reversible and do no damage to the window sash or casing. Another option might be a dryer vent kit to create an opening through the wall and pass your hose through it.

You would gain some space in the small shop area and by moving the DC outside you will also move most of the noise outside. Of course your neighbors might not like that, but if you don't like the neighbors maybe that's OK

Haha, the neighbor I don’t like is on the other side unfortunately. Always spying on me and my crew while working on the house. My walls are all block and concrete but I can definitely rig a pass through one of the windows. I think I can temporarily support a unit from the porch rafters outside. They are beefy 3x10 beams set into the concrete on both ends.
  I’m just not sure which unit to get. I’ve never had one. 1, 1-1/2hp or get a bigger 2hp and only use parts of it. I don’t think there would be more than 20 feet of pipe/hose between the collector and any machine. I’ve got a vac and thein baffle set up for smaller tools. I will eventually replace that with a better extractor. The other stuff I have that might benefit is; Jobsite table saw, 14” bandsaw, rigid spindle/belt sander, sliding miter saw and bench top drill press. I’ve also got a midi lathe that’s semi buried and a scroll saw that’s still in the box not set up.

Before you get too wrapped up in getting a full 4” collector, I’d read the research and info on the Shophacks website.  He finds that you can get better fine particle extraction from just about any machine using a shop vac and proper attention to the collection point and static pressure.  I’m definitely going to try it before I commit to a larger size extractor.

I have used the Rockler wall mounted dust collector with an Oneida Dust deputy, it’s not a terrible setup, but it’s underpowered for many tasks. Certainly better than nothing, but I recently upgraded to a much more powerful Oneida Supercell, which can also be wall mounted and it’s much better for my needs.
