I may upgrade my phone in the near future. The only thing I'm really bothered about is seamless integration between the phone and Outlook. I've had a look on Google and it seems that there are issues with all the major players unless you buy 3rd party software. I don't think I necessarily need a smart phone just a bigger screen but it seems I will have to get a smart phone to achieve that. What are my options?

The other thing that concerns me is that a funky phone isn't suited to use on site so does anybody have a case that works well in messy environments?

I can't speak to that, but I know of someone who does. Swingman takes quite a few pictures of his work environment and construction projects and posts them online.

otterbox and balistic, both make rugged cases suitable for the jobsite. i wouldn't go tossing your phone in the mud or anything but you don't have to worry about dropping the thing at least. look for a case that seals any ports on your phone as well to protect from dust.

I've been using the OtterBox Commuter case on my Blackberry for over two years, and it has taken no damage, despite numerous drops and a few flights at thrown speed.

what phone you thinking pf getting. I use a galaxy s2 and it syncs everyday with my gmail account even uploads my photos to google + automatically and then i choose if i  wish to share them. All contact etc are synced aswell

Android based or iPhone all sync directly with the mail and calendar server directly without a problem.  Is there a specific feature in the outlook you use that you would like to sync like the notes or tasks?  If you are talking about contacts, that could be some headache without a MS Exchange server but overall, that can be taken care of during your wire plugged in sync at the computer while you charge.

Ditch outlook, drink the other green koolaid and go android.

Download/Upload your entire calendar/contacts from outlook and upload to google

The problem with android is all your email had to go through there server and be read by google and their information gathering systems...to draw in advertising.

Go Blackberry if you have your email at a POP server.... it will work fine...otherwise go and use the Blackberry site.

I don't use the Blackberry message site. I use MS Outlook and all things connect in and talk back and forth. I have worked for governments and android/Google are not secure... Blackberry POP or their message system is.

Outlook is great...  android is not secure at this time....Google sees and ready all email ...but they say is just a program looking for content to attract advertising.... it is not secure for email...for other  uses fine.

Cheers,
Steve

I use an I phone 4 and there is not a problem with using Outlook.  very easy to set and least with Verizon it was.  I only use Outlook and I send and receive easily on the I Phone.

iPhone 4s, siri or dragon speech is unreal. I never have to text while I drive again!  [wink]

I second the otter box. Get it at any mall cellphone kiosk. Ive had one on my pad for yrs and just put one on my iPhone.
It does add considerable bulk but you can't have it all.
