I ran across a video I didn't remember seeing here, so I thought it might be interesting especially to those new to, or thinking about the Festool system.  The person who did this video also has some others but I admit I haven't watched them yet.  One interesting part of the video to me was showing the parallel guides being used with the router.  That isn't mentioned very often.

Edit:  Here are the other videos done by this Festool User:

I use a V groove bit and the rails to make cupboard backs from MDF with a convincing T&G look.

Imported African MDF, you can't take too many chances on expensive stuff like that, and the rails do the job admirably.

Nice video's. Anyone know who this guy is and how to contact him? Would love to do cabinet doors like his in the background with the "sunken" panel so that he has room for his Woodpecker squares and such. Anyone know how to do that?

Thanks, Dick

From YouTube.

Perhaps leave a comment on there, he's replying to others it seems.

Hey Dick,
I'm the guy who made the videos.  Glad you liked them.  I'm a long time lurker on the FOG so was surprised to click into a thread about me.  The cabinets you see behind me are a modified version of a cabinet I saw in Wood magazine a few years ago.  They pack a tremendous amount of storage into a small space.  The doors are actually double-sided with a 4" deep frame.  The panel is held in place with a dado recessed 3/4" for that 'sunken' look.  Here's a thread I found that chronicles someone else's build:

Main difference with mine is that I chose to use 1/4" ply instead of pegboard because a) i don't like pegboard and b) the ply let's me screw in any mounting fixture I want.  Hope this helps.

Welcome to the FOG!!  Keep up the good work with the videos.  You have a good way of explaining what you are doing and your workflow.

Braden - Thanks for the videos and welcome aboard the forum! I look forward to more of your videos and work...  :)

Hi Braden!

Welcome to the FOG!  I really liked the videos and like others hope that you have some more planned for the future.  Very well done.

Peter

I even commented on one of the videos, great to see Peter has pulled you out of lurking.

In fact I'll ask the question here too in case you don't see it there.

What's the spiral router bit you're using?

I look fwd to seeing more of your videos.

Braden, very well done videos!  You make some very informative points with the LR32 system and using a router with the guide rails system.  As Peter said, using the router on the rails is not often used or even discussed.  But why not?  It makes perfect sense.  I'm curious, though, have you tried using John Lucas's Card Trick Tip for setting up dados?

Hmmm, If that is "John" in the pictures, she is very pretty.  [tongue]
