Has anyone heard of Sonic Tools?  They're a company originally from Denmark, who set up shop in the USA a few years ago.  Has anyone had experience with them?  Just being a hobbyist, it's more out of curiosity.  But I'm looking at getting a decent toolbox for mechanic tools.  I saw the Humble Mechanic review them on youtube. I like the though and organization of the tools.  They come in precut foam (think kaizan) with labels on them for each tool.  And when you open one drawer, it locks all other drawers so you don't risk tipping.  But I don't know if the tools are any good.

Thoughts?

Never heard of them before. Interesting concept buying tools by the drawer, gets you set up and organized faster

Completely unfamiliar with them.

I can comment on the foam in the drawers though. Usually reserved for airplane techs, NASA techs, etc. This is so a quick survey can be done to make sure no tools get left behind. Another scenario is to help prevent theft.

With that said the worst part about foam is it takes up a massive amount of space. Absolutely no way I could get 1/4 of my tools into the same box with foam in them.

Lastly they have no idea what tools I need or want. Therefore my preference would always be for building my own tool set.

Lots of options for tool boxes. Many decent quality tool boxes today have individual locks on each drawer (Not detents, but actual locks that need to be physically released), then a central lock for security. If moving a tool box over rough terrain I will always recommend locking the central lock though (Like outside a bay door, etc.).

Personally a tool box is only so important if you are only opening the drawers for hobby stuff. Costco offers the best warranty bar none. Snap-on will get you new drawer slides, but won't give you a refund 7 years down the road, but Costco will! Waterloo and others have decent tool boxes that will store even the most prized tools.

The Humble Mechanic is one of my watched channels on YouTube.  I was a big VW fan in my youth.

Sonic is a sponsor of his, so I take the product endorsement with a little skepticism.  I like the look of Sonic and the foam inserts.
Never handled the tools in person, so have no real opinion on quality.  If I was needing all new sets, I would give them a look.
