Soooooooooo

I expect it will be a great tool but it is hard to be excited about its release in the fall since Mafell has at least 4 similar models available in North America right now.  Now if the pricing is significantly less than the Mafell, that might be worth getting excited about.

I would be buying the cordless model. Using the same batteries as my other Festools would make it more desirable than the Mafell.

I also just like to handle a new tool like this to understand how it feels, the balance etc. I can do that at my local Woodcraft with Festool whereas I cannot with the Mafell.

The pricing is significantly less.    [big grin]

I'm curious just what all you excited guys are going to cut with this thing ? [unsure]

I usually build one or two decks a year and the cordless version will be the only saw I use on them. I might not even need my speed square on the job at all.  [big grin]

I am using the HKC for framing, sheeting ,siding ,outside trim, hardwood floor.
It came in handy to use with TSC for fitting 80 storm windows and 80 screens
I use the finer blade for everything so the cuts are high quality
It performed exceptional laying wall plates on new construction
Cordless ,accurate and still not heavier then my wormdrive

I think Mafell products distribution kept me from having more Mafell tools and I know
few other carpenters who feel the same way ( and it is not the price )
I can go in a festool store in this area and look at the product, try it out and if I choose to by it I still have 30 days to return it (I never used this option but nice to have).

I have the Mafell Kss 40 after previously owning the Kss 300(corded version). This is one saw that after you own it for a bit, you find about 100 uses for. I would expect the Festool to be similar. In a cordless version with a dust bag ( shockingly good dust containment)it's something that is in my truck full time now.

Personally, I'm not cutting squat with it.
I'm excited about this getting into the hands of deck builders and framers I used to work with.

But anywhere you'd use a circular saw, and it does compound mitres and all that jazz.
True, you'd need to use a standard track for long cuts.

I know people will scoff and say they can make a straight cut.
Yeah, that's cool but, this is better.  :)

I may be interested in this for furniture building, to be honest.
Yes, I know that tablesaws and bandsaws exist; some of us just like
to take the tool to the work on one-offs.
