I thought I'd introduce myself with a question. I've just spent the cost of a really good overseas holiday on Festool gear that came in the new T-Loc Systainers. I'm now spending even more money putting all my other tools in T-Locs. I kinda wish I'd never heard of Festool!!! Anyway I bought a Sortainer 3/9 today and my local dealer tells me that the Sortainers will soon be available with the T-Loc system. Has anybody heard anything about this? If it's true I will hold fire before I buy any more Sortainers.

I don't see it happening soon, if ever. Why would you need a T-loc sortainer? You can latch them into the bottom of a T-loc anyway, and why, in a stack of systainers, would you want the sortainers anywhere but at the bottom?

I'm putting all my hand tools from my Fat Max tote bag into 2 sortainers with an old Sys 1 on top and being able to conveniently place them higher in a stack would be a great advantage. i would love t loc compatible sortainers. i can see some real anoying situations where the sortainers are on the bench and the t locs are on the roller board , all the t locs have to come off to put on the sortainer. i can see myself having tool specific sortainers ( SCREWS, MFT STUFF, ROUTER BITS , DRILL ACCESORIES, RO90 PADS, MULTI MASTER ACCESORIES, ETC . only a few off of the top of my head) all of these i would like to keep with the relivent tool , this will mean that they will have to sit on top of other tlocs.
i dont see the point of not changing over all it is , is a a bit at the bottom and a latch at the top, i know it would cost money to change the moulds but it would compleate the system.
i think the maxis and minis should come too

That's what I figured so I had assumed that the sortainers would stay as they are. However the guy in the toolshop was adamant that they are changing. It wouldn't be the first time I'd had bum advice from a Festool dealer though and I can't see how they can adapt the sortainers to use the T-Loc without sacrificing even more space. Maybe the Germans are even more clever than we think?
if they remoulded the bottom to match the tloc bottom like brice said , and left the top in the classic style a t loc could go under it easily and on top albe it a bit more frustrating. this wouldnt matter if they were tool specific as they would be left atteched to the tool on top

I have just had a long chat with the UK importer of Tanos products and he assures me that there are no plans in the pipeline to change the Sortainer latches. I think that can be taken as definitive.
