Anyone have a source for sliding door hardware like the ones pictured below? The second image is MWE (German).

It doesn't have to be either of the two brands listed just something similar in style. I priced out a K.N.Crowder CRT-101 kit today and nearly fell over ($1,400). I thought this was basically a pair of bearings and some stainless rod?  [scratch chin]

I see Hafele has a set, Flatec II, but I don't have an account so I have no idea where these land price wise.

Pictures of the Johnson hardware installed. A cherry valance was installed to cover the hardware. These pictures are from a job done by Eric Carlson, I believe his screen name here is ecarlson. (I hate when someone takes credit for work that was not done by them)

I went to IKEA & found some sliding doors . Checking there may be informative.

Thanks Tom for the quick reply and follow up with photos! The Johnson hardware is quite affordable and building a valence to cover the hardware might just work. It's a bummer that the modern/exposed hardware hasn't become more mainstream (affordable) [sad].

Doc4som, I wish a quick run to Ikea was possible, sadly the closest one is almost 4 hours away.

Anyone else have ideas on a source for this type of hardware?

Yep, found that one right off when I first started my search. They handle MWE, ABP, and Krown Lab.  It's ironic as I placed a call to them a week ago and just today heard back. The price range on these is still higher than I had hoped $900 to $1800 per door (hardware only).  While the the less modern barn door hardware is in the $200-300 range  [sad].

I frequently install barn doors in modern spaces with a little more primitive set from Crown Industrial.  They call it their "flat track" design.  Unless solid blocking is already in place, I suggest ordering the track oversize and drill holes in the field.

The iPad isn't letting me attach an image properly, but if you go to my website here:

you can click on a thumbnail and expand the pictures. . .

Thanks John for posting that!  I was wondering about wondering about using unistrut and rollers for something just the other day.

I used the following site for an example and had a local sheet metal/welder fabricate the parts for considerably less.

I purchased the track out of stainless steel for $52, the hanging brackets cost $150 for the pair and the bearings were purchased for approximately $23 each.  I still have some work to do in order to complete the project but it is working beautifully.  Let me know what you think!

Can you show us any closer details of the hardware?

And what did you use for standoffs between rail and studs?

I don't have a photo that will provide a closer view at this time.  The building is in North Carolina and we are in PA and may not get down again until June.  The hanging bracket is designed to support more than 250 lbs but i wouldn't be able to determine if that is true to fact. So far it is still in the air and hasn't found it's way to the floor below.  I mortised the bracket into the top of the door and used 3#12x 3" screws that are in both the end and straight grain.  The rail is fastened to wood blocking and the bracket is is trapped on the rail in the back and under the rail.  I used teflon tape with a psa backing that centers the bracket on the rail and helps the bracket to slide freely and smoothly.

dlyons41, Those doors are very nice....just the type my wife would like to install in our house remodel.

Did you fabricate them or purchase them from a Door Company.

If from a Door company, could you please tell me which one?

Thanks,
bluecpu
