I know that I have seen some discussion, but none of the "answers" work for me.

What is the official way of getting the splinter guard strips on a guide rail to actually stay in place?

I have used heat guns, blow dryers, cleaners, clamps;  tried to re-use strips, bought brand new strips:  NONE stay in place.  It doesn't do any good to calibrate to a  saw, if the strip has fallen off over night.

Any secrets to share?

By the way, the black ones stayed in place.

Clean all adhesive residue form the rail. Do not get finger prints on the new adhesive strip by starting to remove the protective strip and start the splinter guard on the rail and then pull the protective strip so the splinter guard unrolls the length of the rail. Once in place firmly press the adhesive onto the track. Then trim the excess ends off.

Use acetone to clean the rail before installation, I also use spring clips on my rails exposed to hot conditions.

When not in use I hang mine on the wall with a clothes pin (the ones with a spring) on each end.  Haven't had one come loose since I started doing that.
