Stabila 120th Anniversary Levels

Stabila has introduced some cool looking, 120th Anniversary, Black Levels...

These are the classic Type 196 levels in a Collector's Celebration format.

They have the Jamber Set that gives you a 78" and 32" level. This set is sold for squaring doors but obviously gives you two independently useful levels as well.

There are two other offerings now as well...

The 48" & 24".

Coming soon:
A classic, 3-vial, Anniversary Torpedo Level.

Actually, from what I can tell, Festool did have Stabila make a special level for them. It is very similar to the 48" version of the Lights Levels that Stabila sells as a set. The difference is in the frame. The Stabila version has a "U-shaped" cut out frame where the top/middle vial goes. The Festool version is continuous. The Festool version also has graduations along the top edge, which can be useful. They start in the center and go outward.

At first, I thought the Festool level was a ripoff because I thought it was just a Type 196. Then I looked more carefully and noticed that it is a "Lights" level, which has LED's that can light the vials or be removed and used to light something else. Once I realized what exactly the Festool level was, I realized that it was a better level for a comparable price.

Slightly off topic, I'm a big fan of the nylon padded carrying case to keep all the levers together.

Crick levels are SEXY, although after seeing the LED lights for the vials in the stabila I really want one, I'm always reaching for my flashlight to double check vials.

I still haven't pulled the trigger on the stabila since my 3foot Johnson dual vial and 4foot stanley (look I basically go it for free ok [crying]).

I think I'l snap up a torpedo when they release them. [big grin]
