Just purchased the parallel guides and extensions. Is there any systainer that they would fit in? I am worried they will get damaged just sitting on a shelf

First let me say Welcome to FOG

This is what I did to protect my PG's in the shop and transport, it is a unused Rifle Case, probably overkill but they are safe for sure

Welcome to the forum.

There's not a Systainer that will hold them.

They're pretty robust. I don't think even a drop would damage them, not that I would encourage you to drop them.

I seem to recall a few threads where forum members here talked about some options, including the one Sal suggested. I want to say that someone suggested a case or bag for a snowboard as an option.

I got to ask.....but how is anything going to get damaged just sitting on a shelf?

Do you throw bowling balls at your shelves?    [poke]

Welcome to the FOG!  I hope you can pull the P-guides off the shelf and put them to use.

I don't own one, but I was wondering if the guide rail tote bag would work.

I ended up customizing storage for them in the shop.  I would only ever use them in the shop or around the house as a hobbiest/DIY user, but they should have something available from Festool themselves imo for those who need them on the go.  Surprised they haven't.  Maybe some ingenious entrepreneur hasn't come up with a third party storage/transport device for them for sale.  [huh]

They sold a special version of he guide rail tote bag for a while that could also hold a bunch of accessories like the gecko clamps, parallel-guides, angle guide etc. But as far as I know, it has been discontinued.

Here's a thread about it: link

One member uses a electronic keyboard (piano) case.

i've been inspired by this thread to "go for it" in making the box for the parallel guides.  This is my very first posting on this site (which i love), and i hope this helps someone...it was very challenging to design, though it's essentially very basic.

Nice work and thanks for the photos.  I appreciate being shown I can make the solution to this storage problem!!

Sal,
If you have an unused rifle case, you have too few rifles.  I'm just sayin'...

[big grin]

Yes you can get a bag for them but as far as I know they are no longer available new. So you'd have to hunt round for one. They are good and I can get tonnes in my one.  FS-BAG-PA 49694
