Stupid question on Festool Abrasives

Hi,

Stupid question here:  I have some Platin 2 foam backed abrasives for my EO-125.  Which side is the abrasive & which is the attachment pad?  One side has the printing on it, and I think is the attachment pad, but the side that I am using for the abrasive seems very abrasive, far more so than I would expect.

Am I doing this wrong?

Writing side attaches to the sander. As seen below, the side with "S 1000" and "S 4000" on it. The side used to sand is dark gray.
