There was a thread regarding cleaning mortar off subfloor and a few tools were discussed.  This is my tool of choice for this operation because of its excellence in dust control.  I own a ras and it is absolutely the best tool for scribing both because of its weight and dust control but the Bosch 1821 with a diamond cup and dust shroud put everything else I have used to shame for flat surface grinding while keeping my air clean.

Thanks Chris for the recommendation. Did you choose this over the Bosch 1773AK concrete surface grinder because of price or yours is more general purpose or ???

Chris,

Did you have to buy the dust collection attachment seperate or did it come with it?

My local rental shop sells Hilti and Bosch so they had this setup.  The price was such that it made sense to just buy it.  I didn't need a new grinder but the ability to grind relatively dust free made it hard to say no to.  The tool as shown was 200 dollars.

How many of us have been trapped on the Slippery Slope for the very reason that it is so very dust free?  [scratch chin]
case in point:  i have three Festoy sanders that I could have done without.  But I now work without even a mask (much of the time)  All my old sanders are stuck way back in a corner >>> some where.  I probably needed a CMS like I need a pair of boots with no soles.  I have no space for it.  But there it is, taking up that ever crowded space and there seems to be no dust around it.  That lack of dust on the floor is not from lack of use.
