Suggestions for Festool recon sale

I went through this and purchased a couple tools this week, and I'd like to offer some suggestions, as someone who lives in the software development and IT worlds.

The first experience I had, involved me calling three dealers before getting someone who could fulfill my order. One wasn't by a computer, one wasn't participating and the third finally completed my order. Only when I got that far, the item I wanted was gone... of course then it was back a day later, for a few days.

My suggestion is to give the customer control to park an item in a cart for 30 min as is done now. Assign that transaction a code so the customer can handoff the cart to a dealer to fulfill the order. If they eclipse 30 minutes, then the code becomes invalid.

Part of this process could also involve the customer entering their email address for communication on shipping from Festool, so they can receive shipping notifications. Right now I have two items coming from the sale (at least I think I do), but I can't tell because there is no shipping updates (through Beaver anyway).

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations.

What would happen when several customers aren't sure what they want and they reserve one each of every tool? In some cases we have fewer than 5 of a tool.

Or, thousands of customers, to be on the safe side because they are on the fence, reserve items with no genuine intention of ordering. In the interim, people are going to the site and few, or no, items are showing as available and think everything is sold out. Then we have no opportunity to sell those items.

While we're open to recommendations on how to improve the process to make it easier for our customers and dealers, I can envision this causing a whole new set of problems and frustrations.

I think the main issue in your case, if I'm correct, was that you didn't know which dealers were participating. Had you had access to our website, that could have been resolved.

The only thing I would suggest is shipping notifications. I received my shipping notification AFTER I got my stuff, kinda funny. However I love tracking packages. I still can't believe that it came that fast. Also, I wouldn't mind a conformation number or something when ordered as well.
